FIFA15 - A Girls Review / FIFA15 UK Launch Party

It might surprise you to learn that aside from my penchant of fashion and beauty, I'm an avid video gamer and will happily spend as much on software releases as I do on lipstick and shoes.

It started when I was around 8 and my Dad bought me (him) my (his) first Sega Master System console for Christmas. I remember many happy days playing built-in Alex Kidd in Miracle World and 8-bit Sonic.

So yesterday Jamie & I were very happy to have been lucky enough to attend the FIFA 15 UK Launch in London hosted by footballing app Sportlobster and video gaming giant EA.

I had the opportunity to play and watch the new FIFA 15 alongside it's cover star Chelsea FC's Eden Hazard and other celebrity guests Olly Murs, Rio & Anton Ferdinand, boxer George Groves, Union Jay, Andros Townsend and Lethal Bizzle (DENCH!)

I must admit as a Gooner I was mildly disappointed that no Gunners showed up and even searched the smoking area for Jack Wilshere!

...but as we have our Capital One clash tonight I assumed the boys were under Wenger's "no socialising" thumb.

FIFA, the popular multi format football game/simulator, is released this Friday. You don't have to scroll very far using the FIFA hashtag on Twitter to find jibes about us girlfriends being made redundant come midnight on the 26th!

So I thought I'd see if I could match up to the boys in the footballing gaming steaks and picked up the control pad for a go myself...

I usually favour platformers like Super Mario and the odd first person shooter like Call of Duty and usually shy away from what I perceive to be games requiring the memory of many button formations played at a fast pace.

Having played FIFA15 last night I was pleasantly surprised by how quick and easy the controls were to pick up. No crazy button bashing needed here. From the team selection and set up, to kit options, stadiums and even the weather.

The gameplay itself was actually quite simple to master, contrary to my previous assumption when spectating my boyfriend playing the series in the past. I was impressed that it was also relatively straight forward for me to control an impressive corner from Ozil, find Mertesacker's head and perform the actions required to even score a goal.

So not just for boys after all.

After a practice game or two I even went on to win as my beloved Arsenal against my boyfriend as our rival Spurs. Here's hoping it's a prediction of things to come for this Saturdays real North London derby huh?!

Celebrity clashes on the night included Tottenham's Chadli against a lucky fan who unfortunately lost 2-1 on the final whistle.

Olly Murs Vs Hazard was a nail biter, going into penalties at 90 minutes with Hazard scoring the winner saving face against the pop star.

Even watching the gameplay next gen is so realistic that it was hard not to get carried away, with the crowd cheering on our respective teams just like we would watching Soccer Saturday down the local.

So I know what this girl will be doing on Friday ...joining the queue of lads at Game clutching my very own copy of FIFA 15!

Are you are gamer? What's your favourite console/game?

Apologies about picture quality - iPhone pics!
