Lush - Sea Spray Hair Mist

Oh dear. I hate being negative about Lush.

I usually have such a good experience with the brands products (I also love the fact they're cruelty free) but the only waves happening between the Sea Spray Hair Mist & me is the one during our goodbye...

You see, Lush claim the Sea Spray Hair Mist offers tousled beach waves, with a light hold & shine.

I got Hagrid.

A matted, sticky, straw-like mess which made hard work for my usually painless detangle brush.

A few hours after a light spritz I resembled a school child suffering a nit infestation, clawing away at my itchy, flakey, irritated scalp. I just couldn't wait to wash it out.

The one positive is that it smelt rather nice and the orange flower & grapefruit scent did last.

Perhaps it's down to my hairs long length and fine consistency but as the product doesn't claim to be for a specific hair type I was left disappointed. Shame as I really hoped I found a dupe for that costly Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray.

I've now taken the executive decision to rebrand the product: The 'Sea Spray Hair Miss'

Have you tried it? What did you think? What's your favourite Lush product?

  1. Haha, oh dear! Hagrid definitely isn't a good look. I've always had my eye on this too but to be honest my hair has always looked awful after being in the sea. I'm not left with nice beachy waves, just a hideously frizzy mess :/

  2. Haha this is a brilliant post - I've always been scared of sea sprays because they just matt my hair and it's less 'cool looking mess' and more 'wow, seriously brush your hair.' It's not ideal, glad I'm not alone in this!

  3. I haven't tried this before, but have brought a lot of other salt type sprays before and like the effect and texture they give to my fine, thin hair. I'm really liking Ultrabland at the moment, one of Lush's cleansers.

  5. Love a good, honest review! I'd been tempted by this myself, as Faye uses the B&B offering and I myself try and stick to cruelty free products as much as possible. Will avoid after this! Thought the smell does sound lovely - as with all Lush products :)

  6. This did make me laugh even though it was a negative post. I was looking at this product to maybe pick up for the summer, I'm glad I've read this post.

  7. Finally, someone who hates this as much as me! The biggest complaint I have with it is the spray, it doesn't spray at all, instead it squirts a very thin trail of the stuff onto a tiny portion of my head. I had massive crispy clumps and sections totally untouched. Not a good look!
