Products Of The Year 2013

I hope you had an amazing Christmas!

As the end of 2013 looms I thought a post rounding up my products of the year was fitting. The items are not necessarily new to 2013 but purchases that have become firm favourites the past 12 months.

I'd love to hear yours too!

The L'Oreal Gentle Eye Make Up Remover works a treat with the added bonus of it's price. It melts away make up effortlessly & has never irritated my sensitive eyes. Highly recommended ...plus the money you save on Bioderma is good for the soul!

I'm absolutely useless at applying eyeshadow without spotting half of it down my cheeks. I'm just not the gifted MUA I dream to be ...well that was until I discovered Rimmel's Scandaleyes Eye Shadow Paint. It's ridiculously simple to apply and blend with mightily impressive results. Perfect for introduction to make up (or clumsy oafs like me!)

Collection's Lasting Perfection Concealer is as good as any higher end brand I've tried. Great formula & coverage and at a very good price to boot. This is one blogger hyped product that is worthy of it's praise.

Lush Tree Tree Toner Water is a great bed side table staple. A quick spritz before bed keeps those pesky blemishes at bay. It sinks it pretty quickly too!

I love the huge shade selection of MAC's Face & Body Foundation. It's so important to find a good foundation-skin tone match. It's light in formula (which I prefer) but buildable for more heavy duty wear to serve you well on nights out. For flawless results everytime it's worth the few extra pounds for this purchase.

I was sent Maybelline Rocket Volume* & shoved it in the back of my make up storage. On running empty with my regular higher end offering I pulled this out & was so impressed with the results! Long, natural looking lashes in an instant. A great brush & a clump free application. If you buy just one drug store mascara in 2014 then I highly recommend this - It easily rivals Benefit's They're Real at half the price.

Dove's Hair Therapy Leave In Conditioner does what it says on the tin (bottle?) with the added bonus of it smelling like sherbet. Winner!

The Neal & Wolf Heat Protection Spray* probably doesn't do any a better job than cheaper heat protection sprays but I just adore the pungent salon style scent. I get a lot of compliments on the whiff of my hair when I've used this too - so I know I'm not the only one!

Boring but a necessity! Love the Compressed Dove Pure Antiperspirant*. Same amount of product in dinkier packaging makes it easier to lugg down the gym. I'm a sensitive soul so mine are non fragranced but still smells pleasant without breaking me out. Not sure I'm down with the whole 48hr wear thing though!

I can't write a product praising blogpost without the obligatory nod of kudos to Real Techniques Brushes. Affordable, great quality & they wash well. My favourite make up application tools!

Here's something I should have bought sooner: the Michel Mercier Detangling Brush. My long hair is always tangled. This brush is a revelation! Although I initially begrudged spending £20 on a bit of plastic it is AMAH-ZING! If you have problematic knotty hair then consider investing as it glides though your locks effortlessly. Even if the ugly thing looks out-of-place on your glamourous dressing table.

My everyday face cream is Olay Complete Care Day Fluid. It's reasonably priced, absorbs quickly, is moisturising and contains SPF15. Ticks all my boxes!

I know Moroccanoil* is ridiculously expensive but as I have fine hair, I find a pea sized blob after blow drying helps keep those flyaways at bay. It really does last you ages so cost per use is technically not that bad...which is what I tell myself to justify the crazy price!

Nothing's better on a lazy Sunday than a face mask and the best of the High Street bunch is definitely The Body Shop's Seaweed Ionic Clay Mask. It draws out impurities, clarifies the skin & leaves it refreshed. There's always plenty of generous discount vouchers doing the rounds too!

& finally it's the L'Oreal Superliner Eyeliner. Love the nib and grip band on the pen. The product flows evenly making application a doodle. Definitely one I'll repurchase to fulfil all my winged liner needs!

Have you tried any of the products above? What's your products of the year?

  1. Love the look of the Body Shop's Clay Mask. Wonder how it compares to the Origins one I use as I bet it's cheaper. Might have to pick one up in the new year.
