Recent Bargains - All Under £2!
Here is a few bits I accumulated in the past couple of weeks - everything was under £2. I was quite proud of this cheap and cheerful haul!
First up is my Color Club Nail Lacquers. If I'm honest I usually stay away from cheaper nail polish, it's mostly watery gunk that is 50 coats opaque! ...but thanks to reading lots of positive blog reviews singing the praises of Color Club, when I found this name/shadeless boxed duo staring at me from the shelf in TX Maxx's sister store Home Bargains, I just had to have it. £1.99 for two polishes in summery neon shades? Yes please!
Having avidly check listed my festival must haves for this year I noted the Sunglass shape of choice are 60's-esque roundies. Unfortunately for me being blessed with a rather large head the smaller delicate frames in Topshop looked ridiculous on so I left disgruntled, albeit £20 better off. A few days later I was mooching in Primark I came across these slightly oversized round frames. They suited me much better and at £1.50 I bought them in both black and tortoise shell.
I usually buy my Crest 3D White Deluxe 'Glamour' Toothpaste off eBay for £3.50. It's my favourite for teeth whitening (Trust me, I've tried many!) but a bit of a nuisance to come by in the drugstores/supermarkets. So I was rather delighted to learn that 99p Stores was offering two tubes for, err, 99p! I bought a fivers worth and although my bathroom currently looks like the toiletries isle in Tesco, at 50p a pop was too good an offer to pass up. I'm even contemplating going back for more!
Talking of pound shops, on a recent trip to Essex I popped into Poundworld as there's not a branch near me. I thought I'd try their cotton pads and wool balls for £1 each. If I'm honest I wasn't expecting much as cheaper ones I've bought in the past have been rubbish. I literally went on the strength of the packaging and the fact the design would compliment my shabby chic-esque bedroom. Luckily for me the contents were as good as the packaging - especially the pads which held their own even after being soaked in cleanser and swiped in my days make up!
Food shopping, I hate it. ...but I do enjoy having a look around the supermarkets clothing rails. On my most recent trip to Asda I found this Neon Pink Flag Necklace. Originally a fiver but marked down to a pound. Needless to say it went in my trolley quicker than the multipack of Monster Munch also on offer!
I live quite near Roman Road Market in East London (it was recently featured on Mary Portas on Channel 4) The TV show made it sounds like a run down, baron, disused place and chose to film most footage midweek when naturally it's not at its busiest. Come along on a Saturday and it is heaving! Lots of stalls sell ex-Topshop, River Island and ASOS wears for a fraction of the price. Some are even current season but are returns, store samples or have minor defects - getting a Zara jacket for £15? I'm sure I can overlook a miss-stich.
Anyway, one of the stalls sells beauty and make-up products - a mecca to local girls who flock around the oldish chap who runs it. Unsurprisingly with brands on offer such as Rimmel, L'Oreal, and Maybelline. Two weeks ago I picked up these three band new, sealed Revlon Colourburst lippies for a quid each. Bargain!
The final find was in my local independent chemsit. They have recently decided to offer a pound shelf in their shop and whilst I was waiting for my hayfever prescription to be made up, I noticed the relatively new L'Oreal Elnett Satin Spritz Hairspray amongst the £1 items. A few doors along in Superdrug that stuff retails at £5.99 so I bought 5 bottles in the volumising formula. A little excessive but I'm sure I'll get through them!
