Polished! Models Own - Utopia
I first tested Utopia at the Models Own pop up shop in my local shopping centre. I watched as the girl in front of me purchased the last bottle leaving me left disappointed still clutching the tester. I then spent the next few weeks taking multiple trips to Boots stalking the Models Own stand, only to find the Utopia section displayed nothing but the units spring holder - sold out again!
Finally I got lucky and laid my hands on a bottle (the last one in fact!) It has quickly become one of my all time favourite polish shades.
The pale paint has subtle undertones of lilac and pink which is only visible in a certain light. For such a subdued shade it is still eye catching on the nails and it's neutralness means it works well teamed with any outfit combination. Its now my go-to polish when I'm having an indecisive wardrobe week as I know whatever I wear it is sure to match. It is very versatile and looks fabulous dressed up for an evening out but just as amazing as an every day polish.
My first foray in to Models Own polishes was a neon orangey-pink pot in the shade 'Pink Punch' which I purchased from River Island a good few years ago. I loved it as the vibrant day-glo colour was unique, a shade I had never seen from other brands before - very much like Utopia.
After a base, a standard two coats were required to leave a professional opaque finish. Despite being impressed with the high gloss of the polish I still added a top coat to help prevent chipping. I get about 3 days wear out of the nail paint which could probably be stretched a lot longer if it wasn't for my fussy ways and redoing my nails over the least little spoil.
A gorgeous shade and one I will definitely repurchase. Models Own Utopia (£5) has climbed straight to the top of my list of nail polish staples.
