Poker Straight To Curly? Enrapture Extremity Heated Rollers - Review

I've always had poker straight hair. I remember aged 11 I was chosen as a bridesmaid but was nearly denounced from the role as my hair just would not curl. A total of 3 days was spent in the salon in the run up to the wedding and every hair bending instrument, tip and tool was used ...resulting in not so much as a kink by the end of it.

Fast forward a good few years and not much has changed - my hair is still limp, flat & lifeless. I often try to wear my hair 'bed head' messy with the assistance of half a can of dry shampoo but even that drops the minute I step outside of my bedroom. The most my party hair gets is a few strategically placed kirby grips and I'm left with mild jealousy at my friends perfectly waved tresses.

For this reason and after reading lots of positive reviews I was excited to try the Enrapture Extremity Heated Rollers* as these are a little different to other bog standard rollers on the market. They emit heat from the core of the roller AND from the clip ...perhaps this is what I need to get my hair to hold a wave!?

On unboxing the rollers Im greeted by the lovely case that houses them which would be a welcomed addition to any girls dressing table. Another attraction was the different sized rollers included: 10 medium for defined curls and 10 large for volume and waves.

Inside the box includes a style guide which is handy for novices like me. I switched on the rollers and after just two minutes the LED light indicator notified me I was good to go. I towel dried my hair adding a small dollop of volumising mouse which I then combed through so it was evenly distributed. Then I blow dried my hair upside down ensuring it was completely dry.

I then begun sectioning ready for my first roller. I started with a section of hair at the crown and used a medium sized roller. I like to roll my hair over rather than under as then it should fall away from my face rather than into once it's removed.

The velvety texture of the rollers made them a pleasure to use in my long scraggly hair. In the past the velcro or the plastic 'spikes' of my previous roller sets have always felt harsh and damaging. I dreaded pulling them out as they'd often get caught and tangled but these felt kind - as did the lightly cushioned butterfly clips which secure the rollers in place.

My only slight niggle is that the clips were a little hard to open with one hand whilst the other was holding the roller in position but perhaps this is something I'll master in time with more experience?

I noticed after a few minutes of rolling that my hands were scold and blister free (a first!) It is practically impossible to burn yourself using the Enrapture rollers which is a welcomed feature for a clumsy oaf like me!

I continued rolling the various sections of my hair; starting from the crown to the nape of my neck (like a mowhawk strip), then the sides. I used the larger rollers at the top roots for the biggest lift and the medium rollers elsewhere. Once every strand was rolled in place I busied myself & allowed them to cool completely as recommended in the style guide.

Around 40 minutes later I began to unravel the rollers with ease and pretty curls tumbled around my face. In the past when I have done this, by the time I have got to the final roller the first removed curl has already dropped significantly. Using the Enrapture Rollers - for the first time ever my curls held out. Yeayyyyyy!

After a quick separation with my fingers and a light dusting of hair spray, my hair was a volumised bouncy head of glamourous locks - eat your heart out Cheryl Cole! I went for a meal with my Partner Jamie that evening and spent it flipping my hair like a girl in a shampoo ad.

It did drop a little but I realised that this was the first time in 20 plus years that I have managed to achieve any curl, wave or body in my hair for longer than 2 minutes. It's no wonder this product has commanded the attention of red carpet stylists and such rave reviews.

...if only they were available when I was on bridesmaid duties!

  5. Wow your hair looks gorgeous! I use the Babyliss hot rollers but the sizes are ranging from large to small... I mean who wants to have some of their hair with huge curls and some of it with tight ringlets?! Needless to say the result with mine isn't anywhere near as nice as yours!
