I went to London Fashion Week: Francesca Marotta
Held inside the magnificent Livery Hall at Goldsmith's in Central London I bagged my front row seat at the amazingly talented Francesca Marotta's second season's London Fashion Week show "Amore della mi vita" meaning "Love for my life"
Showcasing her AW12 collection inspired by the strong women of Sicily who have loved and lost, the heavily black themed collection - representing a time of mourning - displayed a gothic edge with only a blood red lace piece and subtly bright perspex accessories by Milko Boyarov as solace.
Famous for her use of high quality fabrics Marotta did not disappoint, displaying luxurious cashmeres, wools, velvet, leather and silks.
Model's wore heavy smokey eyes, adorned with Eylure false lashes emulating the dramatic grieving window. Poker straight hair was also showcased, with the occasional intentionally messy half head fishtail plait worn to assimilate a crown.
The finale piece was a puff ball sleeved full lace dress, the model wore a red crown upon backcombed hair and streaming red eye make up by Issidora with AOFM.
The collection was wearable (something which cannot be said for a lot of runway creations) with strong female silhouettes, the occasional slouchy knit and plenty of lace & leather for AW12. Marotta's collection was definitely created for those who like clean cut and quirky-edge garments.
I received an amazing goody bag too! I will create a separate post for the goody bag haul soon.
Collection prices from £70 - £5000.
